I offer customised research charged on an hourly basis. This can be carried out online or in an archive or record office or a mixture of both.
Based mainly in Leamington Spa I cover Record Offices and Archives in the Midlands and Yorkshire as well as the main London Archives, Libraries and Museums. I specialise in the counties of Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
I currently charge £18 GBP per research hour for office-based research to which I will add my travel costs if I need to travel to an archive to access records. I do not usually charge for travel time to and from archives.
However like the archives in which I work my business costs have increased in the last year and from 1 April 2018 my rates will increase to £20 per research hour. Whilst I regret having to increase prices genealogical subscriptions and association fees have increased a great deal in the last few years and I feel that I still offer extremely good value for money.
- Items obtained for a client in the course of research such as photocopies, birth, marriage and death certificates etc will be billed at cost plus a small element for ordering time etc.
- Expenses such as camera permits at archives are also not included in the research hour rate and will be billed as for copies etc.
A research plan and estimated cost will be supplied to the client for approval and agreement prior to commencing work on any project.
Please note that success in genealogy research is unpredictable and that where research is undertaken but proves unsuccessful the client will still be billed for the research time spent on the project.
I accept payment by cheque or Paypal.
Please also note that cheques drawn on non-UK banks, in whatever currency, or bank drafts and their variants will attract a bank administration charge which I will have to pass on to the client.
