ABIATHAR HAWKES – the man who put the Royal into Leamington

Abiathar Hawkes was the Master of Ceremonies in Leamington from 1833 to 1839.  During his tenure he led a delegation to Queen Victoria for a Royal Charter for the town.  Born in Dudley the son of a glass manufacturer of the same name he was a freemason, soldier and one of the movers and shakers in Leamington.  This is his story.
