EMMA STENTON: from Leamington to Calcutta

Emma Stenton is Leamington’s own “Jane Eyre” figure.  Abandoned by her father Francis Stenton, Leamington’s Master of Ceremonies, at the age of two her story is a life of genteel poverty in London, the need to earn her own living making her train as a teacher.  Eventually found after her mother died, by her sailor brother she went out to live in India where she met and married the man of her dreams and was very happy at last – at least for a short time.

This is one of my  shorter “Coffee time” talks of about 20-30 minutes and is correspondingly cheaper at £30.
