IN SEARCH OF THE SANDEMAN DON – the search for “George Masseot”

The iconic “Sandeman Don” poster for Sandeman Port was designed in 1928 and signed by an artist calling himself George Masseot.  In actual fact he was a Scottish artist called George Massiot Brown and is in Jacqui’s daughter’s family tree – three times!  In actual fact there are three members of the family named George Massiot Brown and the challenge was to identify exactly which one was the artist.  This is the story of that search.

This is a short talk in the Coffee Break Talks series  costing £30 but can be extended into a full talk (£45) on request.  It is most suitable for family history audiences but has been successfully delivered to a more general one.
