Jacqui Kirk is a professional genealogist/local history researcher with Montague Cottage Research and a representative on the National Archives User Advisory Group. She believes in helping others to research their local and family history and feels that family history is not always about the people in your tree but also about the places they lived.

After more than 10 years as a professional genealogist I am reducing my workload as I prepare to retire in 2021.

As a result I will not be taking on any new clients in 2020 as I aim to complete all existing projects by the end of March 2021.

I will gradually be notifying former clients that their files will be deleted in the course of this year and of course carrying out small follow-up or tidy- up projects for them.

I have enjoyed my work over the last 10 years and the varied and interesting families I have uncovered and would like to thank all my clients for inviting me along with them on their journeys of discovery.

I will continue as a local and family history speaker and will be at The Genealogy Show at the NEC in Birmingham at the end of June giving a talk on tracing railway ancestors.
